The Walmart in Everett will also be affected by this change.

It's still not known whether the Walmarts in Johnstown, North Atherton Place in State College and Somerset will be affected.

Original Story:

The world's largest retailer will be cutting some graveyard shifts.

A spokesman from Walmart said the company will close from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. at 100 stores in the country over the course of 2019.

Walmart said the change is to make sure associates are working when and where customers need them most.

According to Walmart's statistics, most people are shopping there between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

"I do all my shopping during the day," said customer Ordean Welder.

Walmart spokesman Justin Rushing said the company is shifting overnight work to daytime hours and not eliminating jobs.

"By shifting these hours, we're able to make sure more associates are on the floor during peak customer times, resulting in better customer service," said Rushing.

Customer Bob Marshall Jr. said due to his work schedule, he goes grocery shopping around 1 a.m.

"Since I go shopping around that same time early in the morning, I think it's inconvenient for me," said Marshall.

An associate at Walmart in Punxsutawney said the store on Route 119 will be impacted.

The associate said the Punxsutawney location will close from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. starting in April.

An associate at Walmart on Bedford Square Plaza in Everett said the store will also be impacted.
