Somerset Co. woman dies after tractor malfunction at Union County West End Fair

A Somerset County woman is dead after a malfunction with a tractor during the Union County West End Fair in Laurelton Friday evening, state police say.

According to a press release, the 33-year-old woman was a spectator at the tractor-pull event at around 8:30 p.m. when the vehicle being driven malfunctioned.

Union County Coroner Dominick T. Adamo identified the woman as Brandy Horner.

State police said an exhaust wheel within a turbo housing of the tractor became dislodged and was ejected from its manifold.

According to state police, life-saving measures were performed by off-duty medical personnel as well as fire and EMS personnel who then arrived on scene.

Adamo said Horner was pronounced dead at 9:23 p.m. Friday at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewistown.
