EVERETT, Pa. (WJAC) — Police responding to a 911 call say a woman is dead after being stabbed during a domestic dispute in Everett.
Pennsylvania State Police in Bedford say 41-year-old Bernard Jones Jr. grabbed a knife from a kitchen and stabbed Lekevia Bush, 41.
The stabbing happened just before 2 a.m. Tuesday at a home along West main Street, according to PSP.
First responders transported the woman to UPMC Bedford Memorial, where she was pronounced dead hours later.
Police say after the stabbing, Jones fled the home in a Nissan Rogue, headed east on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Police spotted the car in Chester County, over 150 miles away from the scene, and conducted a traffic stop, according to the criminal complaint.
Officers arrested Jones and took him to PSP Embreeville, the complaint states. Police say during an interview, Jones confessed to stabbing the woman.
PSP did not say what led to the dispute.
An autopsy shows the cause of death is exsanguination due to multiple sharp force injuries, according to the Bedford County coroner.
Police say Jones is being transported back to Bedford County for arraignment. Jones faces several charges, including criminal homicide, murder of the first degree and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say Jones will not have the option of bail due to the charges.
