DuBois, PA — According to Suzanne McCullough, Director of Penn Highland's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, they implemented a NICVIEW web camera to provide 24/7 access for family members to see their newborns.
She said the parents receive a log in for the online portal to see their babies virtually anytime, anywhere.
McCullough said the cameras have been up and running for about a week now.
Since then, she said they've connected with family members and friends from at least six different states.
Officials said there were two funding sources for this project.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities donated $7,500 and the PNC Foundation donated $20,000 to support this project.
In a time of uncertainty, McCullough said these NICVIEW cameras provide some comfort for families.
"You have siblings at home that can't come in to see baby brother or sister and this is a way for them to see their baby brother or sister," McCullough said.
Penn Highlands is still accepting donations to purchase more NICVIEW cameras, head to their website to make a donation.
