Centre Co. libraries reopen, with new restrictions in place

The Centre County libraries in Bellefonte, Centre Hall and Philipsburg reopened on Monday, with restrictions and guidelines in place.

They all closed back in March because of the pandemic, then in June they began to offer "lobby service" where customers could order books and pick them up.

Some of the changes you'll see at the facilities include plexi-glass windows at the checkout counters, less tables and chairs to prevent overcrowding, and people wearing masks.

People are also asked to spend 45 minutes or less in the facilities.

"We've been working through this for weeks and weeks. 'What if this happened, what if that happened,' just breaking out scenarios on how to keep everything safe, not only for us, but for all the patrons coming in. All of us, the entire staff, we're just being as diligent as we possibly can."

Staff says children's games and toys, along with magazines and newspapers, have been temporarily removed.

They say they plan on having computers, with internet access, up and running this week.
